The teaching and non-teaching staff at Rishi Valley devote the best of their years to the students and the school is what it is because of them. However, when it comes to higher education of children of the staff, they are at a great disadvantage due to the high cost of higher education.
A group of Rishi Valley Alumni from the batch of 1972 while visiting the valley in 1999, mooted the idea of forming a Trust to cater to the financial needs of higher education for Staff children and in consultation with other batches the Rishi Valley Alumni Initiative was registered as a trust on January 28, 2000, with the following objectives:
- To provide for educational scholarships to children of teaching and non-teaching staff working in Rishi Valley School and other such quality educational institutions established in rural areas with a view to ensuring that teaching and non-teaching faculty of the highest standards, dedication and commitment are attracted to serve in such schools and continue the unique style and system of education.
- To improve educational standards in non-urban based Schools by coming forward with welfare schemes to attract the best of talent to teach and administer such schools.
- To promote interactions between schools using innovative teaching methods and schools catering to rural poor.
- To bring out publications/newsletters and maintain websites in furtherance of the above objects.
- To carry on any other activity incidental to the main objectives.
The first fund raising event for the Trust was organised by the Hyderabad based Alumni, followed by Bengaluru and Chennai.
